A hierarchy tied to plant or company code, with locations imported from PM technical objects.
Incidents and near misses

Analysis methods and risk matrix adapted to your approach; the regulation's content items mapped to SAP fields.
Chemical approval and exposure
Safety approval before a chemical is used; samples checked against OELs, with Turkish OEL lists shipped by SAP.

Current state
How SAP EHS changed in S/4HANA
- Industrial Hygiene and Safety (EHS-IHS) from ECC is not in S/4HANA; incident management and health and safety management replace it. Waste management (EHS-WA) is not supported.
- Occupational health was missing from early releases, came back as an add-on from 1709, and is listed as the Occupational Health component (EHS-SUS-OH) in S/4HANA 2025.
- EHS only works with S/4HANA's own components. The old remote scenarios with maintenance, materials, finance or HR data in another system are no longer supported.
- SAP's 2023 feature scope description lists EHS as Enhanced LoB, and SAP Help sends you to your account executive for licensing options.

Law 6331 and SAP EHS
Near misses must be recorded
Law 6331 requires events that cause no injury but could cause harm to be investigated and reported as well. SAP EHS keeps them as a separate incident type.
Three working days for SGK
Work accidents must be reported to the SGK within three working days. SAP's standard forms cover the US and Germany; the Turkish form and transfer are project work.
Health data and access
Under KVKK, health data is a special category of personal data. Diagnoses belong to occupational health roles, and access from the incident record needs its own design.
From the field
Field notes from SAP EHS rollouts
- Locations are built apart from PM. When the same plant lives in two hierarchies, incident, risk and maintenance data never meet. We import locations from PM technical objects and add only EHS-specific ones by hand.
- Few near misses get reported. A long form puts people off on the shop floor. A short first report with Report Incident (F1992), details completed by the owner, and offline forms where needed make reporting easier.
- Excel risk files are moved as they are. If the columns do not match the regulation's content items and SAP's assessment steps, the migrated data is of little use in an audit. So we build the mapping table first and prepare the template and the load from it.
- Health data is opened to broad roles. Anyone with access to incidents seeing diagnoses is a KVKK risk. We keep the occupational health role (SAP_BR_OH_SPECIALIST) separate and put injured-person data on incidents under restricted access.

SAP EHS: what customers ask us
What is SAP EHS?
SAP EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) is the S/4HANA solution for work accidents and near misses, health and safety risk assessment, health surveillance, environmental data and management of change. It uses plant, equipment and employee data straight from S/4HANA.
Can SAP EHS record near misses?
Yes. Incident management records accidents, near misses and safety observations as separate types. An employee files a short first report; the responsible person completes it and starts an investigation if needed. Law 6331 requires such events to be investigated and reported too.
Can risk assessment be set up for Turkish regulations?
SAP's risk assessment consists of hazard, risk, analysis method, evaluation and control steps, and the analysis methods can be adapted. The document content required by the Turkish regulation maps to these steps, and renewal periods are tracked as tasks. SAP ships Turkish exposure limit lists based on the chemicals, carcinogens and dust regulations.
Can SGK accident notifications be sent from SAP EHS?
SAP's standard official forms and electronic submission are ready for the US and Germany. The notice that must reach the SGK within three working days needs its own Turkish form and transfer, built in the project and shown as a separate item in the proposal.
What changes for EHS when moving from ECC to S/4HANA?
Incident management and health and safety management replace Industrial Hygiene and Safety, and waste management is gone. Occupational health has been an add-on since 1709 and is listed as a component in 2025. If risk assessment or incident management is in use in ECC, extra conversion steps apply.
