SAP SCM - Supply Chain Management

SAP SCM (Supply Chain Management) is SAP's supply chain product family: demand and supply planning, warehousing and transport, shop floor production, asset maintenance and product development. Members run inside S/4HANA or in the cloud, like SAP IBP; SAP SCM 7.0 mainstream maintenance ends in 2027.

SAP's SCM areas and our pages

SAP groups its supply chain products into eight areas. The ten modules we consult on sit in five of them and in the fashion industry solution that SAP lists among its SCM products.

Current state

From SAP SCM 7.0 to today: what to know

  • SAP counts SCM 7.0 among the Business Suite 7 core applications: mainstream maintenance ends in 2027, and optional extended maintenance runs until the end of 2030.
  • For APO, SAP names three targets: SAP IBP, the supply chain planning inside S/4HANA, or a mix of both. The decision can be taken module by module.
  • Under RISE, EWM, TM and PP/DS are separate S/4HANA cloud services, each licensed on its own usage metric; EWM and TM also come as services that run on a separate system.

Localization

Transport rules in Türkiye

  • Cargo reporting to U-ETDS

Carriers with C3, K1, K3, L or N licences enter sender, consignee and consignment note data into U-ETDS before transport. Consignee tax ID and address must be complete.

  • Committed delivery time

A licensed carrier commits to a reasonable delivery time and must deliver the goods within it. That time belongs in the delivery date promised to the customer.

FAQ

SAP SCM and supply chain questions

What is SAP SCM, and which modules does it cover?

SAP SCM (Supply Chain Management) is SAP's supply chain product family. SAP groups it into planning, logistics, manufacturing, asset management, product lifecycle management, SAP Business Network, direct procurement and sustainable supply chain. SAP IBP, SAP PP/DS, SAP aATP, SAP EWM, SAP TM, SAP Digital Manufacturing, SAP EHS, SAP PM and SAP VC all belong to it.

We still run APO. Where should we go?

SAP describes APO as a component of SAP SCM and names three targets: SAP IBP, the embedded planning in S/4HANA, or a mix of both. We first use Readiness Check for SAP Supply Chain Solutions to see how DP, SNP, PP/DS and GATP are used; with a valid support agreement you can also join the free Customer Evolution Program for SCM.

Do we need a separate SCM server with S/4HANA?

No. PP/DS, aATP, EWM and TM can run inside S/4HANA; under RISE, EWM, TM and PP/DS are subscribed as separate cloud services. EWM and TM also come as services on a separate system (extra stack). SAP IBP runs outside S/4HANA, in the cloud, and exchanges data with it.

Why are SAP EHS and SAP PM part of this family?

SAP describes workplace safety and environment, health and safety management under the manufacturing area of SCM, and maintenance planning and execution under enterprise asset management. That makes SAP EHS and SAP PM members of the family; both run inside S/4HANA.

What does SAP Business Network do in the supply chain?

SAP counts Business Network as one of the SCM areas. In planning, forecasts and orders are shared with trading partners so commitments come back faster; in logistics, shipments are tracked in real time with predicted arrival times. These solutions connect to the orders in S/4HANA.
