SAP FSCM - Financial Supply Chain Management
SAP FSCM shows how much cash sits in which bank, what will come in and go out over the next days, and how much credit each customer can take, all from one set of data. In S/4HANA, cash data runs through One Exposure from Operations and customer risk through SAP Credit Management.

Decision point
How the credit check decides
When a sales document is saved, the customer's total exposure is compared with the effective limit of the credit segment.
- Credit limitset per credit segment
- Extra covercollateral, insurance, top-up
- Sales documentsorders, deliveries, billing
- Open itemsFI-AR and special G/L
Check ruleassigned to the partner
- Within limit, document proceeds
- Limit exceeded, document blockedAnalyst records a documented credit decision
- Advanced: multi-level decisions1QM, licensed separately
Effective limit = credit limit + collateral + insurance + temporary increase.
Scope
What we configure in SAP FSCM
Bank account management
Bank account master data, house bank account migration (FCLM_BAM_MIGRATION), approved opening and closing in full scope.
Statements and matching rules
Electronic statements, reprocessing rules (F3555) and manual handling in F1520 for items that did not match.
Flow types and liquidity items
One Exposure flow types, default liquidity items for G/L accounts (FLQINFACC) and checks in F6459.
Treasury flows in the cash view
Payment flows of SAP TRM deals reach One Exposure as flow types 900100 and 900101, where liquidity items are derived.
Customer credit management
Credit profiles and segments, risk classes, check rules; collateral and credit insurance counted toward the limit.
Payment approval and transfers
Approval in F0673A before payments reach the bank, bank transfers and cash pool balancing, all in full scope.
Current state
Licenses and S/4HANA changes in SAP FSCM
- Classic Cash Management and Liquidity Planner are gone, replaced by SAP S/4HANA Finance for cash management. Basic scope is included; liquidity items and cash pools need full scope.
- Full scope is switched on with the FIN_FSCM_CLM business function and cannot be reversed in production. House bank accounts move to master data via step CM1 or report FCLM_BAM_MIGRATION.
- FI-AR-CR was replaced by SAP Credit Management (Note 2270544). Risk categories collapse to one risk class per business partner; UKM_BP replaces FD32 and UKM_MY_DCDS replaces VKM1.
- Basic credit management (BD6) comes with S/4HANA. Formula-based scoring and multi-level limit approval belong to the advanced scope (1QM), which SAP lists as separately licensed.
Localization
Türkiye: banks, FX and letters of credit
Bank movements with OBİ
OBİ collects account movements from your banks, brings them into SAP and clears open items with matching rules. An up-to-date cash position depends on timely data.
OBI (Bank Account Statement)FX valuation under VUK 280
VUK 280 values foreign currency at the quoted exchange rate. TRM opens a valuation area per accounting principle; VUK and TFRS/IFRS valuations run separately on one deal.
Letters of credit, Import Package
The Import and Export Package keeps the letter of credit number as a reference only. In S/4HANA, LCs run in SAP TRM Trade Finance, linked to the sales document.

From the field
SAP FSCM pitfalls from real projects
- Switched on before the license was decided. Once FIN_FSCM_CLM is active in a production system that started on basic scope, there is no way back. Get the scope decision in writing with the license and try the switch in a test system first.
- Part of the cash flow shows as unassigned. Without derived liquidity items the forecast cannot support decisions. Set default liquidity items on G/L accounts (FLQINFACC), derivation queries with query sequences and the F6459 check together.
- Month end produces two different cash figures. The Turkish direct-method cash flow statement (TR_CASHFLOW_DIRECT_N, run in Run Statutory Reports) comes from the local ledger, while the liquidity report is a management tool. Map them in design or the figures drift apart.
- Checks free up credit too early. If a check receipt clears the open item, the customer looks within limit, yet the risk lasts until the check is paid. Decide in design how checks and notes in the portfolio count toward exposure, then test it.
FAQ
SAP FSCM questions we hear often
What is SAP FSCM and which components does it cover?
SAP FSCM (Financial Supply Chain Management) is the finance umbrella for cash and liquidity management (FIN-FSCM-CLM), treasury and risk management (FIN-FSCM-TRM) and credit management (FIN-FSCM-CR). Collections Management and Dispute Management sit under it too.
Does cash management in S/4HANA need an extra license?
Basic scope ships with S/4HANA: bank and account master data, monitoring of cash position and liquidity forecast, and memo records (FF63). Approved account opening, cash pools, bank transfers, payment approval and liquidity items need full scope and a separate license. The business function behind full scope cannot be reversed in production.
How does the customer credit limit check work in S/4HANA?
The limit and risk class sit in the business partner's credit profile and credit segment. At sales order, delivery or goods issue, total exposure is compared with the effective limit; if it is exceeded, the document is blocked and reaches the credit analyst as a documented credit decision.
What happens to our house bank accounts during conversion?
In S/4HANA bank accounts are master data rather than configuration (Bank Account Management). During conversion, existing house bank accounts are moved to bank account master data, either with step CM1 in Start and Monitor Data Migration or with the FCLM_BAM_MIGRATION report run by hand.
How do treasury deals show up in the cash position?
Cash flows from SAP TRM deals are written to One Exposure from Operations with flow types 900100 (incoming) and 900101 (outgoing), and the cash position and liquidity forecast read them by bank account. The deals themselves, their valuation and hedge accounting are handled in SAP TRM.
